The Advanced Learning Department identifies, supports, and challenges gifted and high-achieving students through enriched learning environments that foster cognitive growth, academic excellence, and affective development.

Elementary school students meeting the gifted education eligibility criteria are served through the Resource Class Model, known as Academic Intellectual Model (AIM) Classes at least 5 segments per week. The content and pacing are differentiated to the degree that the activities are clearly not appropriate for more typical students at that grade level. The curriculum is built upon an academic content foundation, centered on interdisciplinary enrichment activities. The Resource Class focuses in the areas of advanced research skills and methods, in-depth learning of self-selected topics, creative thinking and problem-solving skills with a variety of complex topics, higher order and critical thinking skills, and advanced communication skills, encouraging the use of new techniques and technology, materials and formats in the development of products that will be shared with real audiences.
