CCSD Earns Outstanding Financial Efficiency Rating
The Cherokee County School District again earned an outstanding four-star rating from the state’s financial efficiency accountability system!
The Financial Efficiency Star Ratings report school districts’ return on taxpayer investment, by comparing spending per student to student academic performance as measured by the state’s College and Career Ready Performance Index. Ratings range from a half-star to the highest rating of five stars.
Only 36 districts including CCSD, out of 180 in Georgia, earned a four-star rating or better, and only one metro county school system scored higher than CCSD. The ratings are based on three-year districtwide averages of student performance and spending per student.
In its mission to become the highest-performing school district in Georgia, the Cherokee County School Board has invested more of its budget than ever before as close to students as possible -- in teachers, support staff, and instructional resources — while maintaining a historic low millage rate. With this investment, CCSD student performance has risen to Georgia’s 8th-highest, up from 21st, out of 180 school districts. At the same time, the CCSD central office size decreased to the 6th smallest general administration, out of 180 school districts -- shrinking further from 9th smallest.
“This school district, under the direction of our School Board, has really created the greatest return on the community’s investment we have ever experienced," Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said. “Our School Board’s financial stewardship is unmatched. We’re laser focused on our students learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.”
The state also gave ratings for individual schools, and two CCSD schools – Hickory Flat ES and River Ridge HS – earned the highest possible score of five stars. All scores are posted online at https://gosa.georgia.gov/dashboards-data-report-card/downloadable-data.
