The following message is from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower:
Today’s skies may be cloudy, but our schools were filled with sunshine.
As I visited schools across our community today, the smiles shone brightly among students and teachers and staff celebrating the first day of our new school year. You can see some of those smiles in a slideshow of photos posted above.
We welcomed 159 more students than last year’s first day and, aside from some bus delays due to traffic congestion, today’s opening ranked among the smoothest ever.
Thank you to everyone who made today a success, and here’s to an outstanding year together ahead!
