CCSD Message: COVID-19 Update [2]

CCSD Message: COVID-19 Update [2]

As shared with you earlier this month, in preparation for our on-time return to in-person learning on Jan. 4, we implemented several changes in CCSD COVID-19 protocols, with a timeline to review those changes today.

Based on continuing high levels of positive COVID-19 cases among students, staff and our community at large, the temporary discontinuation of parent visits to the cafeteria and extended parent/volunteer visits to classrooms will remain in place for another two weeks.  This temporary limitation will be reviewed on Feb. 4, with visitors possible as soon as Feb. 7.  We know this decision is disappointing for parents who look forward to sharing birthday lunches in the cafeteria with their children and to our many dedicated volunteers and partners who miss serving in our classrooms.

Our focus has been, and must continue to be, on making operational decisions that will allow us to keep our schools open for as much in-person learning as possible.

Thanks to the shortened quarantine period and our dedicated pool of substitutes, we have been able to continue operating in-person school despite the rise in employee absences we have experienced during this latest surge in COVID-19 cases.  Those absences have most significantly impacted our school bus service.  We thank you for your patience if your child’s bus service has been delayed as we deploy our relief drivers as well as our transportation department office staff who hold proper licensing to serve as additional substitute drivers.
