Six CCSD Students Earn Honors at State Technology Fair

Six Cherokee County School District students earned top honors at the Georgia Educational Technology Fair!

The school district entered 43 projects into the state contest based on students’ outstanding first-place performance at the regional competition.  The six CCSD students who placed first, second or third at state competed there against more than 1,000 other Georgia students.  The contest invites students in grades 3-12 to create projects in a range of real-world technology industry categories such as mobile apps, project programming and productivity design.

“Congratulations to each of you – I’m so proud of your dedication and effort that led to this amazing success,” Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said.  “Effective use of technology is a critically important skill for all of our students, and you have excelled through your projects in demonstrating how this knowledge can improve our lives.  Thank you to your teachers for all they do each day and a special thank you for mentoring you on your award-winning projects.”

Samantha Catledge and Davianna Noel, Grades 5-6, Little River ES for Mobile Apps
Marissa Migneco, Grades 11-12, Etowah HS for Graphic Design
Preston Reiter, Grades 3-4, Avery ES for Project Programming

Third Place in State 
Micah Currie, Grades 3-4, Indian Knoll ES for Productivity Design (Non-Multimedia Applications)

The Cherokee County School Board and the Superintendent will recognize the state winners at the school board’s March meeting.
