Superintendent Meets with Cherokee County Council PTA Leaders

As part of the Cherokee County School District’s back-to-school preparations, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower held his first meeting with the Cherokee County Council PTA’s new executive board.

The Cherokee County Council PTA oversees all of the school PTA units in CCSD. It is a separate organization from CCSD with its own governance structure, and this year’s officers are Co-Presidents Catherine Shook and Lori Burton, Vice President 1 Scott Steinbrenner, Vice President 2 Emily Trenbeath, Secretary Tiffani Hairgrow and Treasurer Marieline Reedy.

During the meeting, Dr. Hightower shared updates on school operations and heard feedback on how CCSD can continue to improve. He and the PTA leaders also talked about plans for this year’s Parent University, a collaboration between CCSD and the Cherokee County Council PTA to offer programs for parents focused on how they can help their child succeed in school and in life.

“The PTA is our most valued partner in supporting our schools,” Dr. Hightower said. “We hope every parent will join the PTA at their child’s school and play an active role in this important opportunity for not only volunteering and fundraising, but also for advocating for our students, teachers and public education as a whole. Our PTA volunteers and leaders make a positive difference in the lives of our community’s children, and we greatly appreciate their service.”
